LYPTUS® Premium Hardwoods From Eco-Friendly Forests
STRIKING A BALANCE between human demands and environmental concerns is becoming increasingly important. While nature has been bountiful, we must also recognize its limitations. This is especially true with forest products, ever popular because of their unique contribution to an enhanced standard of living.
The LYPTUS® Difference
Lyptus® represents a new concept in forest management. A premium-grade hardwood, Lyptus® is grown in South America on highly productive plantations, interspersed with reintroduced indigenous trees to preserve native ecosystems. Wood is produced using proprietary technology in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner. Thus, Lyptus® customers can feel good about using this premium-quality hardwood, and also be assured of continuous supplies throughout the foreseeable future.
Many factors distinguish Lyptus® from other hardwood species. A natural hybrid of Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus urophylla, Lyptus thrives in the warm climate of Brazil, permitting harvesting in just 14 to 16 years as opposed to 50 to 70 years in colder regions.
It is processed using best-of-class technology, assuring a top-quality product. Ambitious development programs have resulted in wood characteristics considered most desirable by discriminating industrial customers. These include exceptional workability, machining properties, density, finish tolerance and overall strength.
Quality That Starts in the Forest
Only the best Lyptus® seedlings are destined to become marketable lumber. Specially selected nursery plants are given new homes in the forests, and then patiently nurtured and pruned. When a Lyptus® tree has matured enough to produce long lengths of clear wood, it is carefully harvested and processed.Ultra-Modern Processing Technology
Lyptus® is produced in a state-of-the-art sawmill. With a production capacity of 32 million board feet every year, the mill also features cutting-edge drying capabilities and extra-large-diameter saws. Sophisticated 50-compartment sorters perform first-stage classification. Then wood is kiln-dried, planed and dressed on both faces for consistency and dimensional stability.
